Many argue men would not be able to trust women to be capable of accomplishing the physical demands of combat, which could lead to serious problems..A standard must be maintained to make every member feel as if he/she is part of one single unit, not separated by gender (Willens 1996). These gender differences and given the reality of war, the opposing parties who want to keep women out of combat believe that it is safe to put men in actual combats because they guarantee a greater percentage of military effectiveness. In the military, each party ineluctab ly to have the most capable military power. In United States during World War 1 with the creation of U. S. the States Nurse Corps in 1901 and the U. S. Army Nurse Corps in 1908, women were relied on primarily to provide nursing care Worell 772). Nursing the wounded soldiers was the most visible role played by women during early wars until World War 1. Marriage, pregnancy and motherhood however could be main legitimate basis for voluntary discharge. The Army Nurse Corps in 1901 expressly prohibited nurses from marrying and being mothers because these will hinder their social and governmental service and responsibilities (Worell 774).In World War II however historians documented the more informal participation of women in active combat, in artillery units, as disguised enlisted men, in militia units, and in frontier warfare during the early long time of U. S. history and as spies and scouts during Civil War (Worell 776). The start of World War II apparently expanded non nursing roles of women provided their identity will not be boldly exposed so not to create public misinterpretations. War setting has been redefined however in the beginning of 1950s. Women were openly admit for military service. in that respect is an apparent changing nature and role in the modern military. Military now not only participates in physical combats. Their role has changed with peacemaking and disaster hiatus becoming the most common reason for deployment (DeGroot 25). In this reason, military integrated a wider womens participation these past years. Womens gentle nature, their ability to delay aggression and their conciliatory attitude are now perceived positively in the military setting. Womens nature can make a world-shattering contribution for peacemaking.Women are often integrated into combat support roles and services depending on their capabilities. The discrepancy between the stereotypic attributes of female apparently has variety of emotional effects on the experiences of women in the military. In terms of performance evaluation, people readily give a lower standards and expectations to women. They readily recognize and accept the fact that women has weaker physical and emotional attributes. Froebel Kindergarten Essay

Freidrich W. A. Froebel is best known as the founder of kindergarten. He was a German educationalist. Froebel was born in 1782 in a village in Germany. His clawhood was difficult because his mother died when he was a baby and his father abandoned him. Froebel was wedded to his uncles care. Between 1808-1810 he attended the training institute run by John Pestalozzi at Yverdon. Froebel left the institution accepting the basic principles of Pestalozzis theory permissive school atmosphere, emphasis on nature, and the object lesson.Froebel, however, was a strong idealist whose view of education was closely related to religion. He believed that everything in this world was developed according to the plan of matinee idol. He felt that something was missing in Pestalozzis theory the spiritual mechanism that, according to Froebel, was the foundation of premature learning. Froebels philosophy of education rested on four basic ideas free self-expression, creativity, social participation, an d motor expression. Froebel began to focus on the needs of children just preceding to entering school.He envisioned a place attended by 4-6 year olds where children would be nurtured and protected from outside influenceslike plants in a garden. Froebel mulish to call his school kindergarten, which in German means child garden. Froebel began a training institute for the teachers of his schools. He believed that teachers should be highly respected people with value that the children should imitate. The teacher should also be a sensitive, open, and easily approachable person. Froebels first kindergarten was founded in 1837 in Blakenburg Germany.It featured games, play, songs, stories, and crafts to stimulate imagination and develop strong-arm and motor skills. The materials in the room were divided into two categories gifts and occupations. Gifts were objects that were fixed in form such as blocks. The purpose was that in playing with the object the child would learn the profound concept represented by the object. Occupations allowed more freedom and consisted of things that children could shape and manipulate such as clay, sand, beads, string etc. There was an underlying symbolic meaning in all that was done.Even clean up time was seen as a final concrete reminder to the child of Gods plan for moral and social order. In 1848, the Prussian government ordered these schools to be closed because they did not agree with Froebels ideas. Then Froebel died in 1852, not knowing the impact his work would have on the U. S. school strategy. Then many Germans immigrated to the United States after the German Revolution. Among them were women trained in the Froebel system of education. It was these women who were responsible for bringing kindergarten to the United States.The first U. S. kindergarten was for German immigrant children in Wisconsin and taught in German. Then in 1873 kindergarten was introduced in the public American schools. Freidrich Froebels ideas provid ed the major management for kindergarten curriculum during the last half of the nineteenth century. Many of his ideas can still be observed in kindergarten today learning through play, group games, design oriented activities, and outdoor time.
